WhatsApp Campaigns

Send approved WhatsApp template messages to opted-in contacts at scale. Real delivery and read receipts — billed directly to your WhatsApp Business account.

What are WhatsApp Campaigns?

WhatsApp Campaigns let you send proactive outbound messages to contacts who have opted in to receive WhatsApp communications from your business. Messages are sent using Meta-approved templates from your connected WhatsApp Business Account (WABA).

This is different from the Inbox, which is reactive — customers message you first and you respond. Campaigns are proactive — you initiate the conversation at scale.

  • Inbox — reactive. Customers message you; your team (or AI Agent) responds.
  • WhatsApp Campaigns — proactive. You initiate using approved templates sent to a list of opted-in contacts.
Billing note: Meta bills your connected WhatsApp Business Account directly for every message sent. 247BrandHQ does not add any markup. You must have an active payment method set up in Meta Business Manager and an approved WhatsApp Business Account before launching campaigns.

Before you start

Make sure the following are in place before creating your first campaign:

Connected WhatsApp Business account

Go to Social Accounts and connect your WhatsApp Business Account via the Meta integration.

Approved message templates

You need at least one approved template in your WABA. Sync them from Social Accounts → your WhatsApp connection → Sync templates.

Opted-in contacts

You may only send to contacts who have explicitly opted in to receive WhatsApp messages from your business. You are responsible for obtaining and maintaining consent.

Active WABA payment setup

Your WhatsApp Business Account must have an active payment method configured in Meta Business Manager. Without this, message delivery will fail.

Creating a campaign

Who can do this: Owner, Admin. Navigate to: WA Campaigns → New Campaign.

1
Go to WA Campaigns in the sidebar and click New Campaign.
2
Step 1 — Account & Billing: The platform checks your WABA status automatically. A green indicator means you're ready to send. If you see a warning, check your payment settings in Meta Business Manager before continuing.
3
Step 2 — Select template: Choose from your approved templates. Only templates marked Supported can be used (text-only templates with optional variables). Map each variable (e.g. {{1}}) to a column in your CSV.
4
Step 3 — Upload recipients: Upload a CSV file with a phone column (E.164 format recommended, e.g. +2348012345678) and any variable columns your template requires. For campaigns with no variables, you can paste phone numbers directly — one per line.
5
Step 4 — Name & Schedule: Give your campaign a name, then choose Send now to launch immediately or Schedule to pick a specific date and time.
Template variables: If your template contains variables like {{1}} {{2}}, your CSV must include matching columns. The platform maps each variable to the column you select during template setup.

Scheduling campaigns

You can schedule a campaign to launch at any future date and time. Scheduled campaigns run automatically at the chosen time — no manual action is required at launch.

  • You can cancel a scheduled campaign at any time before it launches.
  • Scheduled campaigns show a SCHEDULED status badge until the launch time, at which point they transition to RUNNING.
  • Scheduling uses your workspace timezone setting.

Delivery tracking

Once a campaign launches, the detail page updates in real time as Meta sends delivery webhooks back to 247BrandHQ. You can track the following counts:

StatusMeaning
RecipientsTotal contacts in the campaign (after suppression list filtering).
SentMessages handed off to Meta for delivery.
DeliveredMessages confirmed as delivered to the recipient's device.
ReadMessages opened and read by the recipient (requires read receipts to be enabled on their device).
FailedMessages that could not be delivered. The recipient list shows the reason for each failure.
Common failure reasons include: number not registered on WhatsApp, the recipient has blocked your business, or the template was rejected by the recipient's device. Each failed send shows the specific reason in the recipient list.

Suppression list

The suppression list protects you from accidentally messaging contacts who have opted out or should not be contacted. Contacts on the suppression list are automatically skipped when a campaign runs — they will not receive any messages and they count as Skipped in the recipient list.

  • Add contacts to the suppression list from Meta Health Settings.
  • Suppression is checked at send time — adding a contact to the list after a campaign has started will not un-send already-sent messages.
  • Skipped contacts appear in the campaign recipient list with a Skipped status.

Rate limits and account safety

The platform sends messages at a controlled rate — a maximum of 10 messages per second — to protect your WhatsApp account health. Sending too quickly can trigger Meta throttling, reduce your message tier, or result in account flags.

WhatsApp accounts start with a daily messaging limit based on your tier. Maintaining a high quality rating allows Meta to automatically upgrade your tier over time.

If your account status shows FLAGGED or RESTRICTED in Meta Health Settings, campaigns cannot be launched until the status clears. Review your recent template quality and opt-out rates in Meta Business Manager.

Cancelling a campaign

You can cancel a campaign that is in RUNNING or SCHEDULED status from the campaign list or the campaign detail page.

  • SCHEDULED campaigns are cancelled before any messages are sent — no messages will go out.
  • RUNNING campaigns stop sending new messages immediately, but messages already handed off to Meta cannot be recalled.
  • Cancelled campaigns show their final stats (Sent, Delivered, Read, Failed) at the time of cancellation.

Frequently asked questions

Who pays for the WhatsApp messages?

Meta bills your connected WhatsApp Business Account directly based on the destination country and message category. 247BrandHQ does not add any markup on top of Meta's charges.

Can I send to any phone number?

No. You may only send to contacts who have opted in to receive WhatsApp messages from your business. You are responsible for obtaining, recording, and honouring consent in compliance with applicable laws.

What templates can I use?

Any approved template in your WABA that is marked as Supported. Sync your templates from Social Accounts → your WhatsApp connection → Sync templates. Only text-only templates with optional variables are supported at this time.

How many recipients can I upload?

Up to 10,000 recipients per campaign. For larger sends, split your list across multiple campaigns.

Can I reuse a campaign?

Not directly. Create a new campaign, select the same template, and re-upload your recipients. This gives you a clean set of delivery stats for each send.
